ago Requisition ID: 1046 The Project Manager supervises supporting
staff through completion of projects on time, within budget, and
consistent with CME QA/QC standards. With a strong focus on client
relationships, this individual manages the full scope of projects
and client needs while identifying areas for business growth.Duties
and Responsibilities
- Manage, review and perform environmental regulations and
impacts as they relate to current projects
- Manage, review and conduct field investigations including but
not limited to; NJDEP Land Use Regulation and US Army Corps of
Engineers permitting, septic system designs, stormwater management
facilities
- Delineate freshwater wetlands -using -methodology outlined in
the Federal Manual for Identifying and Delineating Jurisdictional
Wetlands (1989)
- Review and report on site plan/subdivision applications
- Continually improve department's skill of coordinating
environmental application submissions and approvals
- Manage and review field soils and environmental assessments and
environmental impact statements completed by department staff
members.
- Manage projects that produce quality work as perceived by
clients and partners
- Recruit, select, train, and develop assigned staff in
accordance with the firm's policies and procedures
- Manage subordinates consistent with performance goals for each
level and consistent with the culture of the firm.
- Make recommendations for promotions, transfers, salary
adjustments, and terminations. Direct any corrective actions
necessary in accordance with Human Resources and the firm's
policies
- Train, motivate, and manage subordinates consistent with
performance goals for each level and consistent with the culture of
the firm.
- Ensure firm policies and procedures are being adhered to by
assigned staff
- Attend meetings and training seminars/workshops as
required
- Heavily focus on client management, project management, and
budget conscious
- Continually seek to develop new work from existing assigned
clients.
- Identify areas for potential new business; develop and execute
plans for expanding projects and client base
- The position includes all other responsibilities that may be
necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as
may be assigned.Marketing/Proposals
- Maintain contact with key clients and take an active role in
the development of new business with existing clients, prospects,
and suspects. Develop and submit prospect plans and client
relationship plans to Partner/Principal for approval
- Monitor publications for potential projects and coordinate
projects of interest with a Partner
- Attend fund raisers as necessary or as determined by Partners
for the development and/or maintenance of clients
- Keep abreast of competitors' activities and publications in
assigned areas
- With the Partner/Principal determine the level of acceptable
investment and effort to be put into a proposal and monitor
expenditures not to exceed this level
- Ensure the appropriate Partner/Principal is informed of all
requests for proposals
- Prepare proposals for projects as assigned coordinating the
input from all disciplines involved and submit for approval
- Recommend to the Partner/Principal the sub-consultant contracts
of project segments where appropriate
- Follow up on proposals to determine chances of securing
specific work
- Review and critique all unsuccessful proposals with the
appropriate Partner/PrincipalOperations
- Upon award of contract, determine the specific manpower
requirements on a project. Review and adjust manpower requirements
regularly. Submit to Partner/Principal for approval.
- Prepare sub-consultant contracts as required and submit to the
appropriate staff member for approval on contracts above
$5,000.
- Review all sub-consultant contracts and submit to immediate
supervisor for approval
- Meet regularly with client to ensure the client is kept abreast
of project progress including any delays that may occur.
- Ensure the appropriate internal sign-offs are present on all
drawings and documents prior to submission to the client.
- Maintain continuous awareness of the progress of projects to
ensure attainment of budget and time constraints. Take appropriate
corrective action as required.Project Administration
- Initiate billing for each project and ensure submission to
client on timely basis. Follow up with clients regarding delinquent
payments.
- Submit a monthly percent complete report to the CFO detailing
the percent complete and cost to complete for all assigned
projects.
- Review project progress, costs, and potential problems with the
Partner monthly.
- Coordinate the pricing of all extras up to 10% of the original
contracts and submit to the immediate supervisor for approval
- Prepare progress reports and any other support documentation
required by the contract.
- Look for signals that job costs may exceed fee and take
corrective action as required.
- Investigate and resolve complaints on assigned projects.
Complete the required paperwork where potential for litigation
exists.
- Ensure quality assurance measures and procedures have been
adhered to per company requirements.Qualifications, Skills and
KnowledgeRequired
- Ability to accurately perform and train others on specific
technical calculations necessary for departmental assignments
- Knowledge and application of municipal and government
structures, laws, and business procedures in jurisdiction of
projects assigned
- Demonstrated knowledge of contracting procedures with
sub-consultants
- Knowledge and application of project profit mechanism
- Good business knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- General knowledge of labor laws and regulations
- Maintain an understanding of and compliance with company
personnel policies and proceduresPreferred
- Familiarity with Civil 3D and other relevant Autodesk products
with the ability to review and critique designs created by team
members
- Relationship selling skillsEducation and ExperienceRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent field
of study.
- 8+ years' experience. A combination of proven relevant work
experience and/or higher degrees/certifications may also be
considered.
- Active member of at least one professional societyPreferred
- Master's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent field of
study. -
