Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a
qualified Psych RN in Bronx, New York, 10456! Job Title: Registered
Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Psychiatric Unit Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 34.5 hours per week Experience:
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric experience License: Valid RN license
required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, one of the following:
Handle with Care, TRUST Training, CPI (Crisis Prevention
Institute), PMCS (Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations), or
MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) Must-Have: 1 year of
psychiatric nursing experience Description: The unit accommodates
adult patients aged 18 and older with various psychiatric
diagnoses. Patients may have conditions such as schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, drug-induced psychosis,
major depressive disorder, or substance abuse issues. The unit has
a typical staffing of three RNs and three Patient Care Technicians
(PCTs) during night shifts. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6-7.
Charge Nurses or assistant nursing care coordinators will run the
unit 24 hours, with no roles for travelers in charge positions.
Physical restraints are utilized rarely, while seclusion is not
common. PCTs are responsible for safety checks, room checks, vital
signs, weights on Saturdays, activities of daily living (ADLs), and
patient observation rounds every 15 minutes. Travelers are expected
to be flexible with scheduling and may be required to float to
other units as needed. The management team is engaged and supports
staff, providing constructive feedback and promoting a safe and
effective work environment. Emergency situations will be managed
using established protocols, with a focus on staff and patient
safety. Availability requests can be made; however, block
scheduling will not be accommodated. There may be weekend and
holiday commitments, with a high demand during winter holidays.
Excessive call-ins may result in serious consequences, including
