Job Description Job Description Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a Government Contracts Associate to join its New York office. Position Overview This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level attorney with 3–6 years of experience to join a sophisticated government and regulatory practice focused on high-stakes matters involving construction law, government contracts, and public sector regulatory issues. The ideal candidate will bring experience with heavy civil construction disputes and/or local, state, and federal procurement contracts. Attorneys with a background in complex litigation, public law, or corporate transactional matters are also encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Advise and represent clients in matters involving construction disputes, bid protests, and regulatory compliance Appear before courts, administrative tribunals, dispute resolution boards, city councils, commissions, and other governmental bodies Handle government ethics, open meetings, public records, and election law issues Provide strategic counsel to clients across sectors including transportation, healthcare, real estate, and environmental services Draft pleadings, negotiate agreements, and conduct legal research and analysis with minimal supervision Qualifications 3–6 years of experience in construction law and/or government contracts or regulatory matters at a top-tier law firm or government agency Strong academic credentials and a JD from an accredited law school Exceptional writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and proactively Active and in-good-standing membership with the New York State Bar Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $240,000 – $330,000 annually Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, and internal equity Full benefits package may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and discretionary bonus potential
