Broadway FULL/PART-TIME FUL L SALARY RANGE: $ 65,000 - $ 77,000
DEADLINE: Until filled This position is eligible for teleworking ,
which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to
apply 30 days after their effective hire date. Opening: The

Objective: This position is responsible for the management and
oversight of all First Mutual Transportation Assurance Company
(FMTAC) insured claims, as well as overseeing and providing
technical support for MTAHQ self-insured claims. Responsibilities:
The Claims Specialist works closely with the Assistant Director,
Claims Handling & Oversight, and serves as one of the primary MTA
contacts for all claims managed by the third-party administrators
on behalf of the MTA and FMTAC. Support all requests and assist
with the preparation of all claim reports. The Claims Specialist is
responsible for working closely with the administrative staff to
coordinate the distribution of legal documents and to assist in
ensuring that All Agency Protective Liability (AAPL) and Premises
claims are accurately entered into the claims system. Process and
settle subrogation claims on behalf of MTA and its subsidiaries and
affiliates to ensure timely recovery of settlement funds from
liable adverse carriers. Responsible for the efficient handling of
the All Agency Protective Liability (AAPL) claims by promptly
transferring risk to the contractor’s insurance carrier upon
notification of an incident or accident, ensuring the interests of
the MTA and its subsidiaries and affiliates are fully protected.
Promptly forward Notices of Claim and Summons and Complaints to the
assigned claims adjuster or insurance carrier immediately upon
receipt and conduct follow-ups as necessary until a coverage
determination and acceptance is confirmed. Serve as a liaison
between the defense counsel, the agency, and the contract
construction manager to ensure timely compliance with discovery
demands and court ordered depositions, to support the effective
defense of the MTA agencies. Promptly notify the appropriate agency
of any coverage concerns to ensure the contracts are not closed out
before the issue is resolved. Other duties as assigned. Required
Qualifications: Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Experience
with varied Claims Management and RMIS Systems Thorough
understanding of risks associated with capital and operating
aspects of the public transportation authority and demonstrated
ability to work with other departments to develop information
necessary to handle, define, and resolve claims. Demonstrated
ability to work with carriers, brokers, self-insure, and defense
counsel. Demonstrated ability to review a case file in order to
analyze liability, litigation plans, reserves, and expenses.
Ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Required Education and Experience: A
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and
experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Must possess a
minimum of four years of progressively responsible claims
experience. The F ollowing is/are preferred: Experience with
Captive Insurance Programs and/or self-insured a plus. Other
