Shift schedule: Monday to Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm, need to have
flexibility for off shift projects
Basic Function
The Machinist Assembler will perform all functions necessary to
fabricate and machine new product prototypes and production tooling
components in a fast-paced work environment for the Automation
department while maintaining a safe, organized and clean
environment in the automation assembly area. The number one goal is
to maintain an aggressive schedule and provide consistent, high
quality machined prototype tooling, components, and mold
modifications to the standards of both Sabert and its
customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all work in a manner consistent with established procedures
for safety to the individual and the team.
To perform all duties required to accurately set up machine,
machine and fabricate/assembly of new products for the plastic
thermoforming industry including but not limited to quality
prototyping, assists, modifications, tool upgrades, repair of
production tooling, test fixtures, jigs, to support the automation
department and manufacturing.
Read blueprints for assembly
Responsible to follow assembly instructions as given by department
supervisor/manager including: part setup, tool calibration, cutting
parameters, file management, and file storage management.
Adherence to the schedule to meet deadlines to maximize equipment
utilization with flexibility to adjust priorities.
Ability to design and fabricate plugs, assists, jigs, test
components as requested.
Polishing, venting, drill and tapping as needed.
Interface with designers, engineers, manufacturing and shop
personnel.
Manual setup and operation of Bridgeport milling machines as
needed
Manual setup and operation of horizontal lathes, table saw, drill
press, and other equipment standard to a tool shop.
Materials include aluminum, steel, Renshape polyurethane, epoxy,
syntactic foams.
Maintain condition of machinery and inventory of all tools required
for efficient machine operation including: cutters, holders,
drills, chucks, collets, clamps, taps, etc.
Ensure that all assigned tasks are of the highest quality and have
been inspected to meet the specifications.
Offer recommendations that will help improve the reliability, speed
of the shop including process improvement input for quality,
tooling and design.
Determine items that need to be purchased or replaced, and submit
requisition to the automation area manager for approval.
Maintain cleanliness of the automation assembly area at all
times
Use of hand and power tools
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Machining skills, close tolerance lathe and mill work, reading
blueprints, utilization of close tolerance measuring equipment
(dial caliper, micrometers, ban saw, table saw etc.)
Qualifications
Safety and Quality conscious
Devoted work ethic (willingness to work extended hours when
required)
Basic understanding of Thermoforming Tooling and Equipment
Sense of Urgency and thoroughness
Proactive and Innovative thinker
Experience with MS Office - Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Goal and detail oriented
Good reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills
Willingness to learn, grow and contribute with the department
Ability to be a team player and work with others.
Physical Characteristics

Good manual dexterity
Mental alertness and good vision
Able to retain new information and part names
Standing on feet up to 8 + hours a day
Withstand extreme heat temperatures occasionally
Work in a continuous production environment
Education
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Vocational/Technical School
a plus
