Job Description:
*Full Time**Shift*: Evenings 3P-11P or Nights 4P-12A*Sign On
Bonus* : $30,000*Salary Range*: $49.92-$60.32/hr.*Position
Summary*Performs routine and some special procedure imaging.
Prepares patient for procedures. Assists radiologists. Prepares,
operates and cares for the equipment being used. Processes images
/CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of
care. Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate
to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Assumes
responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to hospital
wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned,
such as quality assurance. Performs diagnostic and some special
procedure medical radiographic images utilizing CAT scan equipment.
Exercises professional judgment in performance of
procedures.*Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the
Following:*1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance
Standards, Policies and Behaviors Prepares and positions patients
correctly for specific examinations, observing different and
special requirements for each protocol including proper
documentation on images and required body part questionnaires2.
Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures
and produces good technical images, reviewing completed exams for
quality, completeness for the type of test ordered3. Assists
physicians during procedures as necessary4. Performs equipment
Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know
when supplies are low and need to be ordered.5. Will be required to
work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in
the department. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day,
evening, and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and
safe coverage for the department6. Maintains the cleanliness of all
work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning
equipment to Bio Med or Senior staff7. Processes images, or prints
CDs if needed8. Performs routine office duties, such as answering
phones, checking previous reports/ films, documentsinformation on
patients in EPIC, hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray system9.
Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or
returned to floors10. May be assigned as an instructor or
preceptor11. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and
courteous manner, upholding the hospitals behavioral standards.12.
Introduces self, uses 2 patient identifiers, and explains the exam
to the patient and/or family member.13. Knowledgeable and skillful
in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs
of different patientpopulations including neonate/newborn,
pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups14. Performs New
York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations15.
Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings
and in-services16. Duties and hours may change according to the
needs of the department or hospital17. On standby/ call for
emergency department coverage18. Performs all other related duties
as assigned19. Aware of department specific protocols and policies;
such as Stroke Program / Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast,
etc.*Education & Experience Requirements* The CAT Scan Technologist
must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited
radiography schoolor hospital-based program. NY State DOH Licensure
or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R)
and or (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and
documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and
radiation physics and protection. Passing advanced CT examination
/certification within 1 year from date of hire. Continuing
education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set
forth by governing bodies.* Current standards are 24 ECE credits
over a two-year period depending on year of birth. DOH IV
certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.
BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is
required or must be completed with 90 days of hire. Radiation dose
pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American
College of Radiology* (ACR) will be performed during the
orientation process and before end of probationary period.*Core

tolerance.*Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment*
Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time The
person in this position needs to occasionally move about the
department to access patients and paperwork. Constantly operates a
computer and other office productivity machinery The person in this
position frequently communicates with patients who have questions
about their test and must beable to exchange accurate information
in these situations. Frequently move and position patients for
exams May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required
tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may beexposed to are
listed in the hospitals SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may
be accessed through thehospitals Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS
