Job Description Job Description Controls Designer The Control
Systems Designer is responsible for developing, designing, and
documenting control panel systems and instrumentation under limited
supervision. This role involves preparing detailed drawings,
calculations, and submittals; creating PLC wiring and motor control
diagrams; and ensuring high-quality design documentation using
AutoCAD Electrical. The position requires strong technical
judgment, spatial awareness for panel layouts, and the ability to
work independently on-site and in-office. The ideal candidate
possesses advanced knowledge of instrumentation and control
(I&C) systems, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a
collaborative mindset to support project success and team
objectives. Responsibilities Prepare complete control panel
calculations, drawings, I/O lists, submittals, and O&M manuals
. Develop PLC wiring diagrams , including motor control circuits,
under limited supervision. Assist in functionality checkout
development with oversight. Apply advanced AutoCAD Electrical
skills to produce high-quality designs and documentation.
Independently prepare on-site control system documentation from
site visits. Apply spatial awareness to the layout and design of
control panel installations. Create installation packages and field
startup documents with minimal supervision. Make informed technical
decisions for discussion with the Team Lead. Participate in quality
control (QC) reviews , with feedback expected to focus mainly on
advanced design refinements and contract coordination.
Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical
Engineering, Industrial Technology , or related field. Experience
in I&C design, control systems, or related engineering roles.
Advanced knowledge of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems
Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical Strong understanding of
engineering contract drawings and control schematics . In-depth
knowledge of instrumentation and controls. Strong analytical,
troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Highly organized with
excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks under
competing deadlines. Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal
skills and an approachable demeanor for effective collaboration
